Job Description

The Assistant Director (AD) for Professional Development is a member of the office of Assessment and Professional Development (APD). The Assistant Director is responsible for leading the professional development programs and initiatives for Student Affairs (SA) as part of the central administrative team structure. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Assessment and Professional Development.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs, education, organizational development, human resources, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience working in a higher education setting
• Experience in program and curriculum development
• Experience with event planning and management
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, with experience incorporating into curriculum and learning opportunities
• Experience in coordination and collaboration with internal and external partners
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of faculty/staff, student affairs professionals, and students

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of learner-centered design
• Knowledge of ACPA/NASPA competencies
• Knowledge of designing events, programs, and educational resources that are inclusive and accessible
• Demonstrated awareness of, as well as knowledge and understanding of groups historically underrepresented, and groups who may have experienced discrimination
• Interest in developing and implementing curricula related to culturally diverse populations
• Basic knowledge of assessment practices
• Experience with instructional technology tools
