Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Grant Manager Vet Student Svcs (Req 747) at its Detroit campus location.

Job Purpose:
Supports the objectives of the VET-Student Support Services Grant to provide leadership and direction to staff responsible for administrating the specialized academic support for eligible veteran students. Ensures program objectives are met and adherence to grant regulations are followed. Reports to Senior Director, University Advising.

Essential Functions:
  • Supports the program objectives set forth in the approved VET-SSS grant, improve program operations in compliance with WSU policies, and federal regulations governing the management
    and administration of the program.
  • Oversees, supervises and provides overall leadership and direction to staff who support the grant. Sets expectations and focus, evaluates activities, prepares performance appraisals and professional development plans. Provides mentorship and coaching as necessary.
  • Oversees and completes grant proposals and annual performance reports as required by the federal guidelines and requirements of the VET- Student Support Services grant.
  • Prepares, allocates and monitors budget expenditures as outlined in the grant.
  • Tracks and monitors participation of participants as required in the grant.
  • Creates and Chairs the VET- Student Support Services Operations Council. Conduct quarterly meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education: Requires a Master’s degree from an accredited college of university in Education, Counseling, Social Work or related field. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

Requires experience with federal TRIO grant management Preferred: experience supervising professional staff represented by a collective bargaining agreement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience working with veteran population
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and access in higher education.
  • Computer and technical knowledge and skills.
    Experience with grant writing.
"It must be understood that at least a major portion of your salary is being derived from grant/contract funds; that is, your appointment is specifically conditioned on subsidy with WSUCA Sections 2.52.01.120 and 2.52.01.130 applying with full force and effect. Any renewal or extension of assignment is entirely dependent upon your satisfactory performance and upon the continuation of the subsidy. Should the subsidy be terminated or reduced, it must be understood that there is no direct, indirect, or implied commitment by the Department, the School, or Wayne State University to continue your employment (salary and fringe benefits) beyond the cessation of, or reduction in, the subsidy. Under WSUCA Sections 2.52.01.120 and 2.52.01.130, term appointments conditioned on subsidy carry no implication of continuing tenure."
