Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Director of Leadership, Mentorship, and Life Design Initiatives.

Housed within Franklin & Marshall's (F&M's) nationally-recognized Office of Student and Post-Graduate Development (OSPGD), the inaugural Director of Leadership, Mentorship and Life Design Initiatives will facilitate F&M's hallmark leadership development and mentorship programs while collaboratively innovating new programs, resources, and initiatives that prepare and empower students for leadership opportunities at and beyond F&M.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement opportunities for students to develop their leadership potential through programs and mentorship, fostering in students across class years a strong sense of self, group, and community values in line with the Social Change Model of Leadership.
  • Facilitate F&M's hallmark leadership development programs and mentorship experiences, from application through program delivery and impact assessment, including, for example, the Harwood Leadership Seminar, Diplomat Leaders Program, Rouse Scholarship Program and True Blue Mentorship Program.
  • Serve as a thought leader and partner for departments and student leaders looking to develop short- or long-term leadership development programs and experiences. This could include developing a peer mentor program in support of and to scale the Director's initiatives. Keep current with leadership and student development theory, methods, publications, and initiatives to ensure ongoing programmatic excellence and effective delivery of services in existing and new programming.
  • Building upon OSPGD's "Life Beyond F&M" life skills training programs (e.g. financial literacy, public speaking, meal etiquette, etc.), recruit subject matter experts and speakers to deliver relevant content while partnering with internal stakeholders for maximal student awareness of and engagement in said offerings.
  • Approve new users to the True Blue Network, an online F&M community specifically designed to foster connections and referrals of opportunities among F&M students, alumni and families. Moderate the platform regularly with new content and communications that engage and grow the Network of mentors.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of assessment strategies which enhance leadership, mentorship and life skill curriculum development, measuring student impact and development, and making evidence-based improvements.

Required:

  • At least a Master's Degree in student development, counseling, organizational leadership, or other job-related discipline and five years of direct experience working in leadership education.
  • At least six years of professional experience effectively designing and delivering leadership curriculum and facilitating mentorship programs and initiatives, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience with personality, strengths and leadership assessment tools, interpretation and feedback (e.g., Clifton Strengths and Myers-Briggs).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills which will allow the Director to present confidently to employers and interact credibly with the F&M community.
  • Understanding of the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace and in all interactions with all constituents and stakeholders.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency using Google Suite.
  • Basic level of proficiency overseeing the content and maintenance of the external and internal website.
  • Ability to assess programs, using Qualtrics or other assessment tools, software or approaches.
  • Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies.
  • Ability to work weekend hours.

Preferred:

  • Experience with the Social Change Model of Leadership.
  • Keen understanding of, and appreciation for, the liberal arts as well as the ability to communicate its value and relevance to success beyond college.
  • Experience with PeopleGrove or other mentorship and networking platforms.
