RESPONSIBILITIES

Each Donor Experience Officer will focus on providing a first-class experience for alumni and donors by leveraging personalized digital engagement to effectively build relationships based on what truly matters to each individual supporter. This role is critical to helping the university engage more alumni and achieve both its near-term annual giving goals and long-term fundraising objectives and develop qualified major gift referrals. Candidates should be self-motivated and positive professionals, with a team-first optimistic attitude, eager to embody the ESU spirit and engage alumni and friends at a high velocity in a personalized manner. The Donor Experience Officers will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Annual Giving and will work under the guidance of the EverTrue Advancement Programs Manager. They will:

  1. Engage and build relationships with a portfolio of approximately 1,000 alumni and donor prospects. Leverage technology including EverTrue’s cloud platform, social media platforms, and video conferencing software tools to build rapport, steward, and solicit donors in an alumni-centric, targeted, high-velocity manner. Execute monthly and quarterly touchpoint cadences (averaging 50 outbound touch points via phone, email, or other digital vehicles per day) across portfolio to ensure consistent and relevant donor communication. Meet and exceed clearly defined weekly, monthly, and annual goals with an emphasis on virtual meetings with prospective donors and number of personalized solicitations delivered. Build relationships across the University to be in a position to connect donors with relevant individuals when applicable. Be fluent in the “menu” of engagement and philanthropic opportunities across the University (regional alumni events, on-campus events, mentorship, and volunteer opportunities, crowdfunding campaigns, fundraising priorities) to inform conversations and solicitations. Embrace a “mile-wide and inch-deep” approach to serving as a proactive advisor on resources available to alumni and donors across the institution. Aid in outreach and follow-up for events and activities on behalf of Alumni Relations and Development. Proactively monitor engagement to identify and launch initiatives that drive giving.

QUALIFICATIONS All candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least three years of work history.  Preferred candidates will have experience and demonstrable success in a sales or hospitality role. Excellent written and oral communication skills, experience with digital communication tools, and comfort using customer relationship management technologies are also required. Each successful candidate will be a personable individual with a customer-first mindset who believes in the mission of Emporia State University and thrives on achieving goals. They will also be strategic thinkers who are resourceful, adaptive, and motivated to find solutions in a fast-paced environment. A passion for higher education and philanthropy, with aspirations of a career in development, will differentiate the ideal candidate. HOW TO APPLY
