Visiting Faculty

Computer Science & Software Engineering: Visiting Faculty (multiple positions) to teach Business Computing (CSE 148) on a per-course basis for Spring Semester 2023. Course assignments are made on a semester basis. Course may be taught face-to-face or online depending on need. Ability to teach online limited to specific states.

The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in computer science and a Bachelor of Science in software engineering. CSE 148 is an introduction to business-oriented computer skills using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and SQL (structured query language). Extensive hands-on use of electronic spreadsheets and database software by students. Examples and exercises will stress problem-solving in a business context. A Master of Science in Computer Science degree is the highest degree program offered by the department. The department’s faculty is comprised of 34 full-time faculty. Each fall and spring semester, the department offers 25 to 30 sections of Business Computing (CSE 148). The course is taken primarily by students in degree programs offered by the Farmer School of Business. Over 1,600 students are enrolled in the course each year.

Required: Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, Educational Technology or a closely related field or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, Educational Technology or a closely related field with a minimum of five years professional experience.

This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to candidates with extensive experience in business computing or prior teaching experience who can document excellence in the classroom and candidates with significant professional experience with the relevant applications and business computing concepts taught in CSE 148.
