Non-tenure-track Salaried Lecturer in the Boston University School of Social Work

As one of the nation’s top schools of social work, Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) is dedicated to the pursuit of inclusive excellence in education, research, and evidence-based practice to advance social, racial, gender, and economic justice and solve the most pressing societal problems of the 21^st century. We invite applications for a 9-month full-time (FT) salaried lecturer position. The FT lecturer will teach 18 credits (~6 courses total) in the MSW program across the academic year (September to May).  They will advise 10 to 12 in-field students (or its equivalent), as well as read admissions applications for an average time commitment of approximately 100 hours. We seek expertise in clinical assessment and diagnosis, trauma-informed care, and anti-oppressive practice. Courses will typically be one or more of the following: required foundation and/or advanced courses in clinical practice in assessment and diagnosis of adults and children, child or adult trauma, and racial trauma. The need for the 2023-2024 is greatest on the Charles River Campus Program in Boston but lecturers may teach across SSW’s platforms, including the Charles River Campus Program, the Off-Campus Program, and the Online Program. In the Online Program, the FT Lecturer may serve as course instructor (3 credits per course) and/or facilitator (1.5 credits per section).

Requirements:

• MSW degree and LICSW A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a clinical social work practitioner Evidence of excellent teaching and training skills relevant to the MSW curriculum, which include clinical practice in trauma, experience in assessment, diagnosis and intervention with children or adults, culturally tailored intervention, and anti-oppressive practice Experience teaching about equity, inclusion, and the role of structural inequities such as racism and heteropatriarchy and their impact in clinical practice Experience working with ethnically, racially and gender-diverse populations and students Commitment to anti-oppressive teaching methods

FT Lecturers are not required to serve on standing committees or attend faculty meetings. Over-base compensation for additional teaching, advising, or other service duties may be possible and would be arranged individually per the annual contract.
