Job Summary

Provides leadership and management oversight of the Break Through Tech - Miami project including interfacing to a National Program Office, overseeing all program threads, public communications, and developing senior executive relationships with all corporate partners. The project's mission is to facilitate, encourage and enable a significant increase in the participation of women in both higher education and entrepreneurship in fields related to technology in the market. Oversees the program execution among three threads: Curriculum Innovation, Career Access and Community Development.

  • Provides leadership in developing a strategy for growth of new programs that identify and engage the next generation of women in Computer Science. Develops overall program strategy and tactics in accordance with original grant proposal.
  • Plans, executes, and oversees the programs day-to-day operations. Oversees the coordination of internship programs, curriculum innovations, career readiness programs and community development.
  • Collaborates with funders and university leadership to expand, develop and nurture relations with other funders and corporate partners.
  • Develops marketing strategies to expand student engagement with Computer Science.
  • Monitors annual expenditures and assess future departmental and program costs.
  • Reports to internal and external sponsors on all program activities with an eye to the short and long term goals of the program.
  • Develops staffing plans to meet current and future needs of the program. Provides direction, training, and supervision to program personnel.
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Develops, coaches, and manages staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
  • Conducts periodic audits to ensure that the program/project's outcomes are in alignment with University's goals and mission.
  • Serves as liaison with Industry to recruit volunteers and supporters of the program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and eight (8) years of related work experience or Master's degree in a related field and six (6) years of related work experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience leading large programs in an academic and/or corporate environment that have a technology orientation and a talent development/training focus preferred.
  • Experience with project management and policy development preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technology domain or in business administration, public relations, advertising, communications or a related field required, with experience in education, public policy, government, training and/or administration or Master's degree with related experience.
