The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific areas of musculoskeletal biology, flow cytometry, molecular analyses, microscopy and/or microCT as well as mouse models of osteoarthritis and joint injury. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Responsibilities may include the ability to lead projects and work cooperatively with others, carry out and troubleshoot experiments, and assist in manuscript and grant writing. Previous experience in synovial and single cell analysis is preferred but not required.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to collaborate on grant proposals and journal publications, participate in the department's educational programs as assigned, and mentor/teach junior lab members. The selected candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment with experts in cell biology, molecular biology, Immunology and Engineering.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated and have a strong background in standard molecular and biological techniques, cell culture and/or animal models, and have genuine interest in developing computational skills for single cell data and imaging analyses.
