Vice President, Community Service and Engagement

The Fleet Science Center is a multi-faceted county-wide organization working with communities across the San Diego region to leverage STEM expertise and learning in support of their unique community goals and aspirations. With a vision to realize a San Diego where everyone is connected to the power of science, we view our work as being at the service of, and in collaboration with, community.

The Vice President, Community Service & Engagement oversees the planning and deployment of the Fleet’s mission focused initiatives including all exhibitions, education programming and community engagement efforts. This position provides leadership, management, and guidance to teams of professionals tasked with:

• Building and deepening relationships with communities across the county,
• Developing and growing networks of scientists, engineers and STEM focused organizations
• Supporting educators, students, families, STEM professionals and adults through the development and delivery of educational programming
• Creating unique exhibition experiences both in our facility and within neighborhoods.

As a strategic thought-partner with the CEO and Senior Leadership the VP works to continuously evolve the vision and strategic direction of the Fleet’s community centered work growing its reach and impact. Along with other senior staff this
position actively participates in supporting an internal culture that fosters a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
