Marketing Manager, Student Outreach and Content Strategy - School of Medicine

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Marketing Manager, Student Outreach and Content Strategy - School of Medicine at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

JOB PURPOSE

Design, develop and execute marketing and communication strategies for student recruitment for WSU's School of Medicine Office of Medical Education enrollment unit. Serve as the marketing content strategist for marketing and recruiting campaigns across various media including digital, print, and video. Assist in the development of programs that will foster a student recruitment culture and manage student ambassadors to support recruitment initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop marketing content strategies for use in digital, print and video media to support WSU's SOM Office of Medical Education admission key messages and increase awareness through various promotional methodologies.

Create key metrics that will analyze the program's effectiveness to ensure optimal results.

Recruit and manage a SOM Street Squad team of 10+ members to support SOM recruitment initiatives.

Benchmark competitors marketing campaigns and programs to create and deploy competitive strategies for student outreach and marketing initiatives that are inclusive of innovative approaches and best practices.

Keep abreast of current digital media trends, platforms and methodologies that will ensure effectiveness of student outreach initiatives.

Cultivate, collaborate and maintain relationships with the SOM enrollment management team and the Office of Marketing and Communications.

Manage the SOM M.D. marketing and budget.

Develop strategies for showcasing WSU's SOM faculty and facilities to prospective student. Support Second Look Day and other campus recruitment events.

Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in communications or marketing; Master's degree in Marketing or Communications preferred.

EXPERIENCE

5-8 years of experience in marketing and communications role within higher education with marketing management and strategic planning experience and a proven track record in developing and administering a marketing/communications program.

Ideal candidate will have experience working in a marketing and communication function within a university setting.

Management Skills: Ability to set and implement a self-directed agenda. Consensus building skills. Excellent ability to prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management in Client organizations throughout the University.

Organizational Leadership: Ability to plan and set strategic direction for marketing and communication efforts and the ability to work and lead a variety of people and situations. Need to be able to articulate the mission of Wayne State University to many constituencies.

Planning/Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and develop strategies to achieve organizational goals, develop realistic action plans.

Problem Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve problems, develop alternative approaches and meet challenges with resourcefulness.

Customer Service Skills: Responds to customer needs and practices follow-up to ensure customer needs are met.

Communications Skills: Ability to interact and articulate sensitively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators in a multicultural and diverse community. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Technical Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, often under tight deadlines. Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and possess top level business management, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications. Ideal candidate will have experience with Google Analytics and WSU's CMS system.
