Position Purpose

Provides a broad range of data analysis, project management, and research in the administration of the College’s benefit plans, for both the health & welfare and the retirement plans and makes recommendations to leadership to improve systems and processes. Develops and executes in-depth processes to ensure compliance with benefit plan documents and federal regulations. Supervises the Benefits Analyst.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp

Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Five or more years of experience as an HRIS or Benefits Specialist, or other related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with proven ability to troubleshoot systems-related issues.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Technical aptitude and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include intermediate to advanced excel skills. HR systems experience such as Oracle HR or similar.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is expected.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years of supervisory experience.

Key Accountabilities

Description

Prepares and analyzes benefits reports from multiple systems, ensures data integrity and resolution of discrepancies and complex issues, makes appropriate adjustments to databases.

Evaluates current benefit plan practices and procedures and identifies areas for improvement. Makes recommendations to leadership and facilitates the implementation of approved changes through project management, coordination of involvement from key stakeholders, and collaborating with HRIS team in facilitation of technical updates.

Description

Leads data-driven projects requiring the testing of employee data for purposes of providing accurate information, such as, producing personalized Total Compensation statements.

Description

Collaborates with HRIS team and outside vendors to compile data from various sources to provide reports necessary to ensure compliance with benefit plan documents and federal regulations, as well as to provide data analysis for management (i.e. ACA reporting, retirement plan reconciliations, non-discrimination testing, etc.).

Description

Serves as subject-matter expert for data processing and reporting by providing technical support, testing system functionality for system upgrades and troubleshooting issues.Drafts correspondence and other documents in response to data research and analysis.

Manages the vendor relationship for the health & welfare benefits administration enrollment platform, including monthly invoice validation and Open Enrollment planning.

Provides general guidance and direction to Benefits Analyst to ensure uniformity and efficiency among processes and procedures.
