Position Purpose

Part of the external affairs team, and reporting to the Director of External Affairs, this position liaises with regional organizations and campus groups in order to facilitate collaboration, understanding and increased participation in Hop events and programs. Manages arts-focused family and K-12 educational programming, as well as community initiatives aimed at increasing access, awareness and engaging new participants. This position manages the gathering, analysis and communication of Hop impact across all Hop programs and activities.

Description

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp

Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

- 3+ years experience in community engagement or work in the creative sector
- Experience managing educational or arts programs and events
- Strong written communication skills, including examples of written work
- Adept at interpersonal interactions, running meetings and speaking in public
- Excellent planning and organizational skills; attention to detail
- High level of initiative, creativity and energy
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

- Advance degree in community engagement, organizing, arts education, arts management, arts marketing or related field.
- Experience gathering and analyzing data to report on cultural impact.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools and experience writing eblasts, articles and reports.
- Familiarity and comfort with collaboration tools, such as Slack, Asana and relational databases.

Description

Community Partnership & Engagement
Liaises with organizations, institutions and schools in the region in order to foster lasting, productive relationships, create co-programming and attract new audiences. Create communications channels with regional orgs, businesses and schools, and coordinate cross-promotion. Broadens access to the arts through connections with partner organizations with an emphasis on serving underserved communities and those new to the Hop. Serves as spokesperson for the Hop in the region, manages Hop participation in strategic public events, and makes connections with campus groups in order to encourage participation among students.

Description

Program Management
Manages K-12 school and educational programming, serving on the Programming working group as point person for school performances, workshops and family programs. Acts as event lead to produce these events and manage communications among schools and Hop programming, communications, box office and front-of-house operations. Creates curricula and works with the communications department on materials to contextualize and enrich education. Runs educational events, which includes event management, public speaking and moderating of panels. Manages Community Ticket Program and other initiatives aimed at increasing access and lowering barriers to arts experiences, as well as programs aimed at attracting new audiences and strengthening local relationships. Coordinates staffing of Hop Fellows, student workers and other staff, and reconciles revenue and expenses connected to these programs.

Description

Impact Analysis & Communication
Manages the gathering, analysis and communication of Hop impact across all Hop programs and activities. This includes defining metrics of success, tracking programming, managing surveys, reporting on participation, gathering testimony, running focus groups, etc. Coordinates the Arts Impact working group, and synthesizes data in order to report and advise other Hop departments. Collaborates with the communications team and director’s office to share impact through various channels, including annual reports, board reports, grants and public emails and stories.
