Position Purpose

The Associate Director will manage Tuck’s strategies, initiatives, and activities to recruit, admit, and yield high potential students from diverse, underrepresented, and historically excluded backgrounds and will partner across Tuck and Dartmouth to support the academic, professional, and socio-personal success of students during their entry into and journey through Tuck’s rigorous MBA program. Reporting primarily to Tuck Admissions, the position will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the MBA Program Office and Tuck’s Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Description

The Associate Director will be a member of and will work with the Admissions team to develop and implement programs and initiatives to increase awareness, application pipelines and yield talented students from diverse, underrepresented, and historically excluded backgrounds to the Tuck MBA program.

The Associate Director role will prioritize tools, resources, events, and activities to attract and recruit high potential applicants across all dimensions, and be a leader in fostering equity, and inclusion ( DEI ) within the Tuck school community. The Associate Director role is a highly collaborative position that involves working closely with other colleagues, teams and departments across Tuck and Dartmouth, and leveraging collaboration, relationship management and inclusive leadership skills to create best-in-class outreach, resources, and engagement with high potential prospective applicants and ultimately with enrolling students pursuing their Tuck MBA .

Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience with issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a professional or academic setting.
  • Experience and skill successfully managing admissions recruitment activities at a higher education institution, or comparable business development or talent acquisition experience.
  • Must be a high performing team player and an action-oriented self-starter
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills, and proficiency in conflict management and resolution.
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies in a culturally diverse environment and model continuous learning, particularly in areas of cultural humility, understanding of social justice and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to create and implement programs, initiatives, and strategies to effectively build pipelines, and to identify, recruit, yield, and support Tuck MBA applicants and enrolling students independently and collaboratively.
  • Able to communicate effectively and empathetically with sensitivity to the experiences of underrepresented populations to successfully engage with multiple constituencies representing diverse interests and perspectives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to building an inclusive community that values the diversity of backgrounds, talents, experiences, and perspectives of all its members, and supporting, contributing to, and strengthening a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community of students, alumni, faculty, and fellow professionals.
  • Demonstrated excellence as a collaborative and responsive contributor with the ability to contribute to, cultivate and sustain a high touch service culture.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or the equivalent combination of experience and education is preferred.

Description

1. Applicant Recruiting, Retention, and Yield : Manages and develops outreach strategy, engagement, yield, and relationship management with prospective candidates and enrolling students. Develops and implements programs and initiatives to raise awareness among and attract a pool of high potential MBA applicants, with a particular focus on candidates from culturally diverse backgrounds, varied socio-economic status, affinity identities, and first-generation college students. Serve as primary point of contact for and builds meaningful relationships with prospective candidates from underrepresented, historically excluded, and minority backgrounds (including intersectional identities, religious affiliation, and candidates who identify as LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, or with divergent physical abilities). Works with organizations such as Managing Leadership for Tomorrow, The Consortium, Admit.me, and Tuck Bridge and builds other relationships to develop increased pipeline for talent. Manages developing and pilot programs and relationships with organizations such as Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges & Universities (TCUs) and other potential applicant pipeline partners. Provides best-in-class authenticity and access to information and resources about the Tuck School of Business’s mission, vision, and culture.

2. Applicant Evaluation, Analysis, and Reporting : As a member of the MBA Admissions committee, reviews applications and leverages knowledge of and relationships with candidates to inform the committee on trends, opportunities, and challenges. Evaluates and advocates for high potential candidates using established admissions criteria, institutional values, and admissions team protocols and integrity. Works with admissions data analysts and other team members to gather, monitor, maintain, leverage, and report on data to inform annual strategic planning, investment priorities, and resource needs and to advise and inform team members and school leadership.

Inclusion and Community Engagement : Partner with the MBA Program Office, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and other departments, current students, student organizations, and alumni to ensure prospective and admitted students successfully transition into the Tuck community and academic experience. Identify student needs, tools, and resources that will promote holistic health and wellness, student engagement, community connection, and affinity. Collaborates with colleagues across Tuck to achieve shared goals and objectives. Models continuous learning, particularly in areas of cultural humility, understanding of social justice, and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
