Position Purpose

The Senior Finance and Compliance Analyst will be a key member of the Finance team, working closely with many areas across campus, producing and presenting insightful and articulate analyses and performance reporting. The primary deliverables include gathering and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, developing reports and presentations, contributing to projects, assisting with audits, and communicating information to stakeholders in a meaningful way.
This position will interaction with all levels and divisions across Dartmouth and will be best represented by an individual who is curious, creative, collaborative, and technically adept. Additional, this position requires an individual who is comfortable with handling task-based work, who also brings an excitement for automation and continuous process improvement. Expressing a desire to understand not only the data, but also the ecosystem that surrounds it will be important for success.
The primary focus will be enhancing the existing Quality and Compliance Program, while also implementing new analyses to drive compliance and best practices with Dartmouth policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Bachelors plus 6 or more years' experience or combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Skills & Knowledge
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Proven aptitude for communicating insights and visualizations using data analysis reporting tools
Demonstrated skills in Excel – being able to create and manipulate spreadsheets, including VBA, pivots, v-lookups, charts, and graphs

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to present information concisely, clearly, and confidently to a wide variety of audience.

Experience
5+ years of hands-on experience analyzing and interpreting data, improving processes, and reporting results
Experience with Excel, Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, ACL /Galvanize/HighBond, Oracle Visual Analyzer, and/or other business intelligence and data analytics tools

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field preferred.
Project Management Professional ( PMP ) Certification desired.

Adept at using ad hoc reporting tools. SQL or other programming experience is helpful
Experience with complex financial systems, with Oracle Financials knowledge a plus
Experience in higher education is preferred

Description

Enhance Quality and Compliance Program
· Be a source of knowledge and expert on analytical methodologies and frameworks, providing recommendations for most appropriate data usage, structure, and collection architectures
· Elevate the existing Quality and Compliance Program and reporting package from primarily Excel-based, manual reporting to a more dynamic state through utilizing various business intelligence tools
· Develop insightful, actionable, and reliable KPI framework for advanced tracking and reporting capabilities
· Collaborate with internal teams to improve and design analyses, processes, and procedures to establish the proper balance between efficiency and risk. Recommend policy and system enhancements, as needed

Data Analysis and Reporting
· Combine multiple data sets to create a comprehensive view of operational and financial data, which will be leveraged to perform periodic reviews, audits, and ad-hoc analyses
· Promote reporting automation, reducing the need of manual intervention and data entry
· Conduct research and engage with other institutions and organizations to identify relevant compliance guidelines, trends, and best practices in higher education

· Support a broad range of complex and strategic projects for Finance, particularly those involving business and system improvements, compliance, and organizational effectiveness initiatives
· Act as Project Manager on designated initiatives that align with compliance reporting processes

· Employ creativity, analytical skills, and expertise in utilizing business intelligence tool, spreadsheets, and other presentation methods to ensure a clear understanding of the information and results
· Deliver insights, data findings, and actionable recommendations to a wide variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders, based on reported results, benchmarks, discovered patterns, and all necessary context
· Provide consistent and timely summaries and metrics to the Finance leadership team to inform key business decisions

Customer Service and Team Support
·Identify and research appropriate sources of information to answer questions on a variety of complex, finance-related topics from constituencies as they arise. Validate the integrity of data sources
· Validate that deliverables (e.g., reports, dashboards, analysis) continue to deliver business value by working with stakeholders on an ongoing basis
· Assist with the design, implementation, integration, maintenance, and ongoing support of financial and administrative systems
· Assist with the development of training and communication materials
· Provide backup for other team members, supporting critical internal tasks and systems
