Position Summary

This role is responsible for working in a self-supervisory nature to develop and manage a $30M+ budget and related activities, including regular and accurate analysis and forecasting. Additionally, this position will oversee the Business Office staff and the day-to-day components of business operations. The incumbent will report to the Deputy Athletic Director, Chief Operating Officer.

Job Description

Budget Management:
Manage all aspects of the intercollegiate athletics budget and oversee the day-to- day operations of the Business Office.

Forecasting and Guidance: Utilize financial analysis and budget forecasting to shift resources appropriately, and offer guidance to Deputy Athletics Director, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Athletics.

Financial Oversight/Reporting: Monitor payables/receivables, procurement, travel, per diem card program and reconciliation. Supervise the maintenance of financial accounts, coordinate financial reporting ( NCAA / EADA ) and monthly and year-end journals. Assume financial signatory and provide electronic approvals.

Administrative Duties: Represent the Department of Athletics at various campus meetings as well as departmental meetings. Update departmental policies and communicate SUNY guidelines.

Additional Duties: Responsible for executing additional duties and responsibilities related to Athletics Administration as requested by Deputy Athletic Director, Chief Operating Officer. These responsibilities may include nights and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Sports Administration or Management; 3 years relevant experience in business or financial management; Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or CPA accreditation; Intercollegiate athletics experience; Possess a high-level understanding of accounting and auditing principles; experience with travel and expense reimbursement system, such as Concur; experience with resource planning software, such as Oracle.
