Job Summary:
The Grainger Institute for Engineering (GIE) within the College of Engineering seeks an Administrative Manager to provide and oversee the administrative support to the Director of the GIE. The GIE supports the College of Engineering research enterprise by facilitating industrial collaborations, acceleration of critical research areas, and submission of large-scale funding proposals. The administrative manager will also provide support to the newly formed Office for Corporate Relations (OCR) and Technology Entrepreneurship Office (TEO). The administrative support will likely involve student help.
Responsibilities:
Manages a program and/or programmatic activities. Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.

Qualifications:
Two years required, three preferred, experience in providing independent and self-responsible administrative support to complex and dynamic office operations
Experience in scheduling, email handling and creating task plans on a daily or weekly basis for unit area leaders strongly preferred
Experience in the support of unit area leaders in the creation of operating unit budgets
Demonstrated multi-tasking skills, with high degree of professional acumen and dedication to accuracy and timeliness
Self-responsible, quality driven and used to work under tight deadlines with several dependencies
Work Type:
Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

- 20% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
- 10% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
- 20% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
- 10% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
- 20% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
- 10% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
- 10% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, and/or approving hours worked for student employees.
