Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Institute for Creative and Collaborative Arts: Art, Communication, Music, and Design at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Broadcasting and Electronic Media beginning in August of 2023.

The Institute seeks a dynamic and innovative individual to teach in the Broadcasting and Electronic Media major. The candidate will teach in a comprehensive undergraduate BA degree program and will assist in the development and operation of a new undergraduate BFA program in Documentary Film and Television. The EKU BA program in Broadcasting and Electronic Media offers curriculum tracks in Film Techniques and Technology and Multimedia Journalism. We are seeking candidates who wish to participate in a collaborative community that fosters independent thought and creativity and embraces the diversity of cultural expression.

Teaching responsibilities will include teaching introductory to upper-level courses in broadcasting, video and film production, and/or cinema history. As a tenure-track faculty member, successful candidates must have professional and academic experience in some combination of the following areas: screenwriting; video, television, and film production, lighting, and post production; audio and podcast production; motion graphics; cinema history and cinema studies; and media law.

The successful applicant will perform other duties expected of full-time faculty, including maintaining scheduled office hours; advising students; developing and revising curriculum; developing and implementing course and program assessment of student learning outcomes; participating in major, department, and college meetings; serving on committees; and other duties as assigned.

In addition to teaching, faculty members on the tenure-track are required to engage in continuing scholarly/creative activities, perform service, and provide leadership at the department/college/university and in the community and/or profession.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach courses in introductory to upper-level courses in a combination of: screenwriting; video, television, and film production, lighting, and post production; audio and podcast production; motion graphics; cinema history and cinema studies; and media law.
Curriculum development of courses at the departmental level.
Ability to provide leadership in the program.
Continued engagement in professional, creative, and/or scholarly activity.
Service and outreach - departmental, college, and university committees and initiatives, including advising of students and community engagement.
Overseeing student internship/co-op placements.
Collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.
