Assistant Professor, Behavior Analysis

The Behavior Analysis Program in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at assistant professor rank. Specialization for the position is Behavior Analysis, broadly conceived over the full range of research and scholarly activities. Recruitment of expertise aligns with the following themes in the UNR Strategic Plan: behavior science directed towards socially significant needs including behavioral health, social well-being, climate change, behavioral economics, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. These areas of specialization complement and build upon the program’s existing strengths. Current members of the Behavior Analysis faculty have expertise in organizational behavior management, behavioral systems analysis, early intensive intervention, developmental disabilities, animal learning, relational frame theory, acceptance and commitment training, behavioral economics, and behavior theory and philosophy. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to develop a strong extramurally supported research program, train and supervise graduate students, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and supervise undergraduate field experiences.  Competitive startup funds are available.  Start date is based on candidate’s availability - July 1, 2023 or January 1, 2024. 

The Behavior Analysis (BA) Program is one of three programs in the Department of Psychology in the College of Science.  The program is the recipient of the Enduring Programmatic Contribution in Behavior Analysis Award by the Society for Advancement of Behavior Analysis in 2010, and is widely known for its intellectual breadth, scholarly productivity, commitment to excellence, and community engagement and outreach.  The BA program is accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International at the bachelor, masters and doctoral levels, and offers coursework and supervised experiences consistent with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board and the State of Nevada.  Other programs in the Department of Psychology include the APA-approved program in Clinical Psychology and the Cognitive and Brain Sciences program.  Both offer undergraduate and advanced degrees in their respective domains. 

The department of Psychology has approximately 900 undergraduate psychology majors, 440 neuroscience majors through a collaborative program with the Department of Biology, 120 graduate students, 32 tenure-ladder faculty, four teaching faculty, and a corps of administrative staff.  Reno is located in Northern Nevada in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range.  Notable Sierra attractions include Lake Tahoe and Yosemite Valley.  The area is rated among the most livable and affordable cities in the US.  For more information about the Psychology Department and the Behavior Analysis Program, please visit https://www.unr.edu/psychology

Required Qualifications: A PhD in behavior analytic psychology or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Applied or research experience beyond the PhD (e.g., postdoctoral experience); a strong publication record; teaching experience; expertise that complements and expands the research, instructional, outreach and community engagement capacity of the program.
