Position Purpose: The Education Development Specialist is primarily responsible for establishing partnerships with businesses, school districts, and other enterprises throughout northern Illinois in order to facilitate student enrollment in graduate programs at Aurora University. This position maintains strong knowledge of all academic program offerings, admission requirements, and procedures, along with basic knowledge of financial aid practices.

  • Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as a member of the Center for Graduate Studies and AU Online teams.
  • Develops strong partnership opportunities and business networks for strategic recruiting pathways that will result in lead generation for online and on-ground students.
  • Provides accurate information about Aurora’s academic programs and admission procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility for recruiting graduate students for programs offered through AU Online and the Center for Graduate Studies.
  • Represents Aurora University at internal and external recruiting events, including area companies/agencies and colleges/universities.
  • Recommends and helps implement new and creative strategies for recruiting graduate students.
  • Works with partners and program chairs to identify opportunities for and assist in the development of new program offerings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Essential Job Requirements:

    Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
    Experience:
    • Experience in education, higher education, and/or sales experience is required.
    Skills:
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills, professional demeanor. Computer knowledge is essential. Ability to remotely interact and develop strong working relationships with a diverse group of colleagues, faculty, staff, administrators, students, the general public, and the education business community. Flexibility with an evolving work situation.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to move about at those locations. Ability to interact via telephone, in person, and via electronic media. Valid Illinois driver’s license; ability to travel regularly to colleges, college and career fairs, and businesses, providing own vehicle. Some evening and Saturday hours are required.
