Industrial Design – This tenure track Assistant Professor position requires a commitment to teaching, research and service. Candidates are recommended to have at least 3 years of professional background in the industrial design field with significant product launches or commissioned work, or teaching at a university level. Ideal candidates’ work shall include; product, system and service designs that remedy global and social issues as well as, sustainability, positive technologies, human centered and ethical designs.
Qualifications - Master’s degree in Industrial Design or a related field required. It is preferred that candidates have at least 3 years of professional background in the industrial design field with significant product launches or commissioned work or teaching at a university level.
Positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor effective for the Fall 2023 semester, unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Evening hours are required for teaching graduate course assignments. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations.
All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
