Job Description:

The History lecturer position is a 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of August 2023. The successful candidate will teach American and European History courses as assigned. This position requires the effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission . The successful candidate will prepare course plans and materials, effectively deliver subject matter content, monitor student attendance and progress, participate in curriculum development, support activities that foster retention, participate in the selection of textbooks, perform an assessment of student learning outcomes, and take part in other service and professional development activities as appropriate. Multiple campus, day, evening, and distance learning teaching assignments are possible. This position reports to the Department Head, Humanities and Social Sciences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree in History or a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in the discipline. Successful results of a background check are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Prefer graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree in History or Political Science and the credentials to teach both History and Political Science. Post-secondary teaching experience and experience teaching distance learning courses are preferred.

SALARY RANGE FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2023-2024 :

$38,500 - $44,500 for a 9-month contract with a master's degree

$43,350 - $49,350 for a 9-month contract with a doctoral degree (in field)

(Entry level salary is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)

Pay Details:

Faculty members hired with less than three years of related experience shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows:

164 Day Base (2022 - 2023)
  • Bachelor's or Less - $35,000
  • Master's - $37,750
  • Master's Plus - $39,500
  • Doctorate - $42,500
All degree classification levels add the appropriate dollars (up to $6,000) for years of credited experience to the annual salary figures above to determine entry salary.
