Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Operations, the Network Engineer is responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of the Colleges wired and wireless network infrastructure, ensuring that it is well engineered for resiliency, performance, and security. This position will work alongside the Network Services Manager and our managed services provider to support the priorities of the College as it relates to our infrastructure.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Contribute to the Information Systems Strategic Plan and long-term infrastructure roadmap as an architecture subject-matter expert
• Lead efforts to improve the resilience and performance of the College's network architecture by incorporating latest technologies and best practices
• Work closely with the IS Security team to deliver infrastructure capabilities to support security demands and requirements
• Install and configure network equipment in cooperation with our Network Manager and managed services provider (MSP).
• Establish a monitoring and oversight protocol to deliver performance improvement and anomaly observation
• Assess, troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate network issues to staff and management.
• Maintain subject matter relevance through learning and understanding historical and evolved network architecture best practices and technologies, and provide informed guidance to ITS teammates where their expertise intersects.
• Govern the network infrastructure lifecycle (inclusive of patch management and security updates) ensuring the technology backbone is appropriately engineered to the College's changing technology needs
• As a member of the ITS team, other duties relevant to IT service delivery may be assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

• Education or experience to perform the responsibilities of this position.
• Experience engineering with HPE Aruba networks.
• Experience with SD WAN, switching, routing, VLANs, redundant internet connections, DNS, DHCP.
• Certifications in HPE Aruba are desirable but not required.
• Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, exempt level position. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees. The annual salary for this position ranges from $82,000 - $90,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
