Position Summary

The department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health is a dynamic workplace with a strong commitment to improving population health for over 100 years. We are seeking candidates for thirteen (13) open rank positions in the Graduate Public Health Program as follows:

1. One director who will lead a new center for climate change and health equity . This position should be Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible) with funding and a history of leadership in areas including health effects of climate change such as environmental epidemiology, climate science, modeling, and environmental justice/health disparities;
2. Four Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible), with funding and expertise in the health effects of climate change including environmental epidemiology, climate science, modeling, and environmental justice/health disparities;
3. Two tenure track positions, Assistant/Associate Professor HS, with a focus on maternal/child health; perinatal/reproductive epidemiology;
4. Six tenure track positions, Assistant/Associate Professor HS, with a focus on global health, infectious or chronic disease, aging, cancer, women’s health, health disparities, and/or advanced epidemiologic methods.

The successful candidates will join a University-wide multidisciplinary team of public health faculty and be part of the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health ( EEH ).

1. One director who will lead a new center for climate change and health equity . This position should be Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible) with funding and a history of leadership in areas including health effects of climate change such as environmental epidemiology, climate science, modeling, and environmental justice/health disparities:

We seek a director for a new center for climate and health equity to work with a senior leadership team and group of interdisciplinary faculty within the department and across the university to write proposals and develop the center. This work will require extensive and meaningful community engagement. This position is tenure-eligible and we anticipate the person selected will be appropriate for tenure review. They will also make contributions to the scholarship and service missions of the School of Public Health and Health Professions ( SPHHP ) and assist in the development and delivery of curriculum on climate change and population health.

This is a calendar year (12-month) position, fully funded by New York State. The faculty member will:
  • Be expected to be research productive: bringing grant funding, applying for and winning grants and producing peer-reviewed publications.
  • Be expected to teach 1 course (3-4 credit hours) per semester.
2. Four Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible), with funding and expertise in the health effects of climate change including environmental epidemiology, climate science, modeling, and environmental justice/health disparities:

We seek a senior leadership team for a new center for climate and health equity to work with the center director and team of interdisciplinary faculty from within the department and across the university to write proposals and develop the center. This work will require extensive and meaningful community engagement. These positions are tenure-eligible and we anticipate all hires will be appropriate for tenure review. Those hired for these positions will also make contributions to the scholarship and service missions of the School of Public Health and Health Professions ( SPHHP ) and assist in the development and delivery of curriculum on climate change and population health.

Successful candidates will have a primary focus on research but will also make contributions to the teaching and service missions of the SPHHP .

These are tenure-track, calendar year (12-month) positions, fully funded by New York State. The faculty members will:
  • Be expected to be research productive by applying for and winning grants and producing peer-reviewed publications.
  • Be expected to teach 1 course (3-4 credit hours) per semester.

    Applicants with experience in all aspects of maternal and child health and/or pediatric and perinatal epidemiology are welcome to apply, including, but not limited to, research and programmatic experience related to puberty, fertility, pregnancy, women’s, infant, family and child health. Courses taught will be part of a new MPH concentration in Maternal and Child Health which is currently under development. Given the broader interests in our department, additional experience in health disparities, health services and/or environmental health is also welcome.
4. Six tenure track positions, Assistant/Associate Professor HS, with a focus on global health, infectious or chronic disease, aging, cancer, women’s health, health disparities and/or advanced epidemiologic methods:

    We are interested in candidates in all areas of epidemiology but a focus on global health, infectious or chronic disease, aging, cancer, women’s health, health disparities and/or advanced epidemiologic methods is preferred.

SPHHP offers programs at every degree level and is the home to departments of biostatistics, community health and health behavior, epidemiology and environmental health, exercise and nutrition sciences, and rehabilitation science.   • Experience successfully mentoring both senior and junior faculty as well as graduate students
  • A record of research/scholarship, teaching and service, particularly in the area of climate science and health equity
2. Four Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible), with funding and expertise in the health effects of climate change including environmental epidemiology, climate science, modeling, and environmental justice/health disparities:
  • Leadership experience, including successful center grant applications
