You can make a direct contribution to medical and scientific research by helping maintain and improve the Center's growing HPC facility, all while working with smart people in a great environment. This position offers exposure to a wide range of technologies with the flexibility for you to develop deep expertise in areas of interest.

Job Description
Center for Biomedical Image Computing and Analytics (CBICA) is seeking an intermediate system administrator (SAGE III or IV) to add to our IT team supporting researchers in biomedical image analysis. You can make a direct contribution to medical and scientific research by helping maintain and improve the Center's growing HPC facility, all while working with smart people in a great environment. This position offers exposure to a wide range of technologies with the flexibility for you to develop deep expertise in areas of interest.
They will serve as a Systems Administrator (C) or Senior Systems Administrator (D) on highly complex HPC systems, as well as Linux systems that provide infrastructure services to the research center. The candidate will interact closely with researchers to understand and enable their work and be an advocate for HPC within the Center.
Candidates at both levels will work collaboratively with faculty, graduate students, research staff, and their IT colleagues. They are passionate about the research and academic mission of CBICA; they are ready to make a difference through teamwork, ingenuity, and the power of open source.
Work related tasks include: performing linux systems programming projects as needed; providing software installation and backups; coordinating hardware repairs; coordinating ordering & installation of equipment; recommending and tracking software & hardware; automating administration tasks and systems deployments; performing technical consulting & end-user linux support; supporting web services; and responding to and assisting first-tier computing support staff who assist end-users with our systems.

For Senior Systems Administrator (D): The successful candidate at this level will meet all of the qualifications of Systems Administrator C (above) and will have experience independently managing or developing successful Linux system deployment projects, with preferred experience in procurement, networking, performance tuning, and other advanced fields.
Required Skills
- Systems Administrator C - Bachelor's degree and minimum of 2-3 years professional Linux system administration experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Systems Administrator Senior - Bachelor's degree and minimum of 3-5 years professional Linux system administration experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Computer Science or related fields preferred.

- Organization skills and judgement enabling you to work on several ongoing projects simultaneously
- Linux System Administration (RHEL-based)
- Linux scripting (BASH)
- Experience with automated provisioning/configuration management (xCAT, Puppet preferred)
- Ability to automate solutions to repetitive problems/tasks
- Strong troubleshooting skills leading toward root-cause analysis and practical issue resolution
- Ability to communicate effectively with investigators and staff with a wide range of technical knowledge
Preferred Skills
- RHSA certification
- Perl, Python
- HPC configuration and operation (SLURM, SGE preferred)
- HA cluster experience (PCS preferred)
- Experience with clustered filesystems (GPFS, Gluster, Lustre, GFS)
- moderate Windows and Mac OS X administration
- Unix/Windows/AD interoperability and CIFS file sharing
- Enterprise monitoring and alerting tools (Nagios)
- Apache web server administration
Based on what we pay employees coming into this position our pay range is $52,000 - 130,000 based on education and experience above the minimum qualifications
