Assistant/Associate Professors in STEM (Multiple Positions)

Adams State University has recently committed to substantial expansion (mechanical engineering) and reinvestment in STEM.  The School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions at the assistant or associate professor level, across a range of disciplines including biology, computer science, engineering, geoscience, and mathematics.  Additionally, we are seeking an experienced faculty member (associate or full professor) to serve as department chair for the Department of Engineering and Computer Science.

While we are primarily an institution focused on teaching excellence, and the teaching load for these positions is 12 credit-hours each semester (9 credit hours for department chair), faculty are also expected to remain connected to their academic field through scholarly or creative work and contribute in the area of service. With small class sizes, a diverse student population, and opportunities for one-on-one mentoring, our campus environment lends itself well to those who are interested in being a positive influence in the lives of students.

Adams State University is a state-supported regional comprehensive university in Alamosa, Colorado, United States. The vast San Luis Valley is designated the Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area. We are, at 7,500 feet in elevation, in the largest alpine valley in the United States. Alamosa is located approximately 3.5 hours from Denver, 1.5 hours from Taos, New Mexico, and 2.5 hours from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Alamosa has a population of 9,500 with recently built elementary schools, a moderate cost of living, and affordable housing. ASU takes a leading role in local theatre performances and musical events and is in an area where the opportunities for outdoor recreation abound.
