The candidate will teach undergraduate and master’s degree courses and employ diverse teaching methods to accommodate various levels of academic preparation. The candidate will have the willingness to examine and adapt one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to engage and support a culturally and linguistically diverse student body while effectively addressing issues of equity in the classroom. We seek applicants who are committed to cultivating diverse teacher leaders, who can create transformative change in K-12 schools and other educational contexts through our teacher preparation program, and who bring critical approaches to teaching within school communities, students, families, and teachers. The department is committed to removing inequities that face underserved and marginalized populations and encourages applicants with a similar focus. Academic responsibilities include teaching and developing undergraduate and/or graduate courses; supporting students as they prepare for and pass certification exams; development of undergraduate and graduate programs; providing departmental, college, university, and professional service; and maintaining a research agenda. The current teaching load for this position is 4/3 with a 3/3 load in the first year on the tenure track which may include working in the role of site supervisor. Teaching in multiple modalities, day and evening, at any of UHD’s three campuses. A commitment to excellence in teaching—including the ability to model exemplary methods for working with diverse populations of learners—is required. The ideal candidate can utilize instructional technology for teaching and learning and has the willingness to collaborate with university colleagues, as well as with local school districts and community partners. The position requires that the candidate establish a successful program of research and engage in research and service activities that support the department, college, university, and profession.
