Job Summary

The mission of Institutional Effectiveness is to support the University by leading activities related to university-wide accreditation and institutional effectiveness. The Director of Assessment will manage and lead academic assessment and institutional assessment. They will monitor general education assessment processes related to SACSCOC accreditation. The Director will conduct statistical analyses of assessment data and produce online resources to educate and communicate about assessment activities. The Director will also facilitate administrative and academic outcomes, assessment, and reporting to support the Strategic Plan and the Mission of the University. The Director will determine reporting requirements, develop the assessment calendar for both Administrative and Academic assessment cycles, consult with/support campus stakeholders, and will be responsible for evaluating reports, writing summary reports, and providing feedback to faculty, staff, and Administration.

The Director of Assessment reports to the Associate Vice President of Research and Institutional Effectiveness and works collaboratively with the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs regarding academic assessment and with various other members of the President's cabinet regarding administrative and institutional assessment.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates college-wide strategic, comprehensive, and ongoing academic assessment programs, projects, and activities measuring student learning and institutional achievement.
  • Works with faculty, programs and departments to develop assessment plans to monitor progress towards programs learning objectives and goals.
  • Works collaboratively with the General Education Committee.
  • Reviews reports and gives formative and summative feedback to programs on assessment plans and progress.
  • Works with executive leadership to coordinate the assessment agenda.
  • Coordinates academic assessment activities for compliance with SACSCOC standards related to assessment and education effectiveness; and assists with other college and/ or program specialized accreditations.
  • Supports faculty with the advancement of academic assessment and improvement of student learning through effective outreach efforts including consultation, training, mentoring, and resource development.
  • Collects and reviews program accreditation and assessment data so as to assist departments and colleges in implementing findings for continuous improvement in both academic and administrative units.
  • Maintains a focus on opportunities to improve/expand student learning activities.
  • Collaborates with Institutional Research preparing reports based on interpretation of data to summarize findings and report on the quality of institutional assessment efforts.
  • Provides assessment information to the college leadership to assist with institutional decision making in alignment with strategic planning.
  • The Director of Assessment will collaborate with the General Education Assessment Committee and chair the institution assessment committee;
  • The Director of Assessment will work closely with the Chief Student Support Officer in assessing the collected data/artifacts to ensure the QEP goals are being met.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of administrative experience in academic and/or non-academic assessment, accreditation and compliance, certification and/or licensing of academic and career programs (General education assessment preferred).
  • Expertise in curriculum design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience with assessment principals and design.
  • Experience in the development and assessment of institutional effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
  • Ability to assist with the development of assessment tools and methods of measurement .
  • Knowledge of appropriate state and federal regulations and requirements for higher education.
  • Significant experience in state, regional, and/or national accreditation.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work professionally with diverse groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in the methods of the scholarship of teaching and an ability to lead action research activities.
  • Experience in current theory and practice in institutional research, research design, data warehousing, management information systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical tools for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, etc.).
Proposed Salary

Salary range is from $80,000 to $90,000
