Postdoctoral Research Associate

Job Description

The position is available beginning in January 2023. The successful candidate will work on federal funded research projects to conduct techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment of novel processes to valorize agricultural and food wastes and conduct bench experiments to convert food processing byproducts into value-added food ingredients, animal feed, and biochemicals. The successful candidate will also assist in writing grants to seek internal and external funding and mentoring graduate students.

Required Qualifications

- Ph.D. in agricultural engineering, biosystems engineering, environmental engineering, food science, or other related disciplines awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of the appointment with a minimum of one year of eligibility remaining.
- Research experience in the food- and bio-processing area
- Self-motivated, able to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Good oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

- Research experiences in techno-economic analysis, life cycle assessment, or agricultural/food waste utilization
- Demonstrated a good publication record
