Job Description

This position works with the Department of Physical Therapy Chair, Department Program Directors, and Admissions committee(s) to coordinate all activities and functions for enrollment management, marketing, and alumni relations for graduate programs in the department. The person in this position will serve as a first point of contact for prospective students as they move forward towards applying for admission to the University, and with enrolled students as they navigate enrollment processes leading up to the first semester. This position will also serve as a liaison for alumni and alumni activities and will be responsible for marketing activities for both graduate programs.

Enrollment and Admissions Management - 55%
  • Responsible for recruitment of students into the Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program and the Masters of Athletic Training Program (MSAT).
  • High school students - fast track programs
  • High school students - Exercise Science and Health Science majors - articulation agreements with department graduate programs
  • Community college students interested in becoming an Athletic Trainer and/or Physical Therapist
  • Undergraduate students interested in the DPT and/or MSAT programs
  • Ensures continued communication from potential applicant queries to enrollment and orientation in the first semester of the program.
  • Responsible for all applications and communications through the online application portals: Physical Therapy Centralized Application System (PTCAS) and Athletic Training Centralized Application System (ATCAS).
  • Evaluates course matches for prerequisites from inquiries prior to application and responds to other general inquiries for pre-applicants.
  • Verifies applications are complete and programs' admissions criteria have been met such as prerequisites, GPA and GRE.
  • Uploads PTCAS and ATCAS data and manages a database for all potential and completed applicants.
  • Organizes interviews for all participants, including applicants, faculty, current students, and clinicians participating in the process.
  • Responsible for disseminating acceptance and denial letters and managing wait lists.
  • Interfaces with Graduate College to assure enrollment and correct campus assignment.
  • Tracks and ensures admissions deposits to NAU student accounts.
  • Serves on the programs' admissions committees, and makes recommendations for changes, improvements to admissions criteria and process.
  • Provides data on admissions annually for programs' accreditation needs and as requested by administration.

  • Marketing - 25%
    • Responsible for marketing the department's graduate program to potential applicants including attending career fairs and presentations at affiliated programs and universities.
    • Responsible for marketing the activities of the department to external stakeholders in each of the graduate programs.
    • Educates prospective students on the benefits of attending our programs at NAU.
    • Manages excel spreadsheets related to financial/budget data associated with marketing the department's graduate programs.

    Alumni Relations - 15%
    • Maintains communications and database of information for department alumni.
    • Organizes alumni events and activities associated with the respective graduate programs.
    • Manages excel spreadsheets related to financial/budget data associated with organizing alumni events.

    Other - 5%
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in related field.
    • 3 to 5 years of related experience.
    • A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree.
    • Experience in administrative and admissions support in higher education.
    • Experience in marketing, specifically with external relations.
    • Experience with data base management.


    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    Knowledge
    • Knowledge of programs' curriculum content and requirements.
    • Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
    • Knowledge of graduate admissions operations and trends, particularly as it impacts physical therapy and athletic training.

    Skills
    • Skills in prioritizing and completing multiple tasks of varying complexity and urgency in a timely and efficient manner.

    • Efficient data entry in various digital/software platforms.
    • Using current media technology, successfully market the departments graduate programs to external stakeholders.

    Background Information

    This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. If you are applying for a job that requires a CDL, you will be required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and adhere to the clearinghouse requirements. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.     Salary

    Salary range begins at $47,634. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

    FLSA Status

    This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

    Benefits

    This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits.
