Position Summary:
Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences to start August 2023. Courses the successful candidate may teach include Environmental Science, Climate and Global Change, Sustainability and Society, Geographic Information Systems, and/or other courses that contribute to the Earth and Environmental Sciences and Environmental Studies curricula and align with candidate interests. The Earth and Environmental Sciences Department strongly values faculty-student collaborative research and mentoring of students for internships and admission to graduate programs. This position includes responsibilities toward a proposed Watershed Pathways program, including the oversight of a minor, coordinating internship and professional development opportunities with partner conservation organizations and the university's Freshwater Research Institute, and expanded student recruitment to areas surrounding the Chesapeake Bay. The position will include a course release to support these additional duties.

Susquehanna University is ideally positioned within walking distance of the Susquehanna River and Penns Creek, with several smaller streams nearby and active stream restoration projects on campus. In addition, SU's Freshwater Research Institute is home to the Chesapeake Conservancy's Pennsylvania office and has existing relationships with non-profits, state and county agencies, and private landowners with the potential to be leveraged by the Watershed Pathways program.

Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment in a discipline from earth science, environmental science, environmental studies, or a related field such as geography, watershed science, or natural resource management. Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who have an interdisciplinary background focusing on watershed policy, geospatial analysis, or agricultural systems.
