Job Details
Emporia State University is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Director - Student Activities & Community Service. The Director is responsible for the advising, mentoring, administration, and assessment of the Union Activities Council and Community Hornets. The position is one of three Director level positions within the Center for Student Involvement and reports to the Senior Director of the Center. This position is an unclassified administrative appointment, working full-time, year-round. Applicants will enjoy working closely with students and providing high impact programs that will encourage growth and development. This is an opportunity to prepare students for lifelong learning, rewarding careers, and adaptive leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Union Activities Council Advisor
- Advise and mentor student leaders who are responsible for bringing and promoting quality events and programs of social, educational, and cultural significance to the Emporia State University student body. Serve as liaison between students, administrative staff, faculty, vendors and community members to facilitate the success of student programs. Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate graduate and undergraduate student employees. Manage operating budget, negotiate contracts, program development, and evaluation. Serve as a contributing member of the Memorial Union/Center for Student Involvement staff.
Community Hornets Advisor
- Coordinate community service and civic engagement programs. Advise and mentor student leaders, serving as a liaison between students, administrative staff, faculty, and community members to facilitate the success of student programs. Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate graduate and undergraduate student employees. Manage operating budget, program development, and evaluation.
Special Events Board Secretary
- Facilitate and allocate funding with board for programs initiated by a variety of departments and units within Emporia State University.
Qualifications:
- Requires a Master’s Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education Administration or student development related fields. Graduate Student experience in student development offices accepted in lieu of post graduate professional position. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong organizational skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups including students, faculty, administrators, and external service providers are necessary.
