Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Biology

Penn State Lehigh Valley invites applications for a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Biology; full-time to begin August 2022. This 36-week appointment is a limited-term (multi year) non-tenure line position, funded for 2 years from the start date, with good chances of renewal.

Responsibilities for the position will include but not be limited to:
  • Teaching twelve credits each semester, which might include General Biology lectures and labs, Microbiology lectures and labs, Ecology lectures and labs, and/or Anatomy and Physiology lectures and labs
  • Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening, night and/or weekend classes as needed
  • Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected


This position will be filled as either a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor rank. A Master's degree in Biology or closely related field is required to be appointed as a Lecturer; a Ph.D. is required to be considered as an Assistant Teaching Professor. Prior college-level teaching experience required. Experience in undergraduate research preferred. Interest in active and collaborative learning is an advantage. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
