PERC Counseling Psychologist Senior

As part of the Department of Psychiatry, Neurodevelopment and Psychosis Division, the Penn Psychosis Evaluation and Recovery Center (PERC) offers consultations on diagnosis, coordinated specialty care treatment (CSC). A small team of dedicated individuals offers a 2-3 intervention program including psychotherapy, medication management, family support and support and skill development for adolescents and young adults (ages 16-30 years) who exhibit warning signs of emerging psychosis or early psychosis, and their families.

The PERC Counseling Psychologist Senior will assume responsibilities for

• Screening of potential individuals for eligibility in the PERC program
  
• Independent diagnostic examinations of potential new participants
  
• Assess collateral histories and documentation to support enrollment
  
• Supervise PERC staff in day to day operations, including psychotherapy supervision for therapists
  
• Provide direct psychological care (CT-R for psychosis)
  
• Manage and direct services for families, including monthly educational and support sessions, and the closed family CT-R group
  
• Oversee data collection required to submit to local, regional and national funding agencies
  
• Represent the PERC program to outside stakeholders, e.g. community organizations, health care personnel and funding organizations
  
• Participate in outreach and recruitment activities to the community at large and other providers in particular
  
• S/he will complete other duties as assigned
  
  The PERC Counseling Psychologist Senior will work alongside and report to Drs. Calkins and Kohler, who direct the program. They will operate at a high level of independence.

  PERC Counseling Psychologist Senior
  
  The Neurodevelopment and Psychosis Section of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania holds a position for a Doctoral Level Clinician with a focus on providing treatment for participants in an early intervention treatment program for young persons between the ages of 15 and 35 who have warning signs of psychosis or early psychosis.
  
  As part of a team approach that includes clinical coordinators, therapists, doctoral student externs, psychiatrists and psychologists, the person in this position will provide supervision of PERC staff on aspects of coordinated specialty care for psychosis, provide direct patient evaluations and care, and be responsible to coordinate submission of data on clinical usage to local, regional and national funding agencies.
  
  In addition, this position will have responsibilities which include management of regulatory submissions, documentation, and communication related to industry sponsored clinical trials, management of research coordinators training and delegation of research tasks to maintain compliance with clinical trial standards and procedures, and aid in recruitment efforts for industry sponsored research and outreach for clinical treatment programs.
  
  Qualifications:
  
  Minimum Requirements: We are seeking an individual with a Doctorate Degree (e.g., Ph.D, Psy.D., D.S.W.) and at least 3-5 years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in clinical care of adolescents and young adults with psychosis. It is expected that within 6 months the Counseling Psychologist Sr. will be fully credentialed within the UPENN Health System and will be capable to provide independent clinical assessment and care. In addition, this role requires supervision of therapists and peer support personnel. Postgraduate experience working in an early psychosis program is preferred and past training in cognitive therapy for psychosis - recovery oriented (CT-R) is a necessary requirement. In addition, the candidate should have supervisory experience of psychotherapists and experience in exposure and trauma informed care, as well as family support and therapy. Data management skills, including RedCap and other platforms, are necessary. Applicants must demonstrate an excellent level of organization and dynamic interpersonal skills, show ability to work both independently and as part of a clinical research group, and computer skills. The applicant also needs demonstrated oral and written presentation skills to represent our program within the Penn community and outside organization, and any evidence thereof will be welcome as part of the application. Child abuse background checking will be required. Position contingent upon funding.
