Job Description

Molecular biology techniques including cloning, PCR, Western blotting, RT
  • PCR, DNA and RNA isolation, mRNA preparation
  • Tissue culture techniques
  • Maintaining lab inventory database (plasmids, cell lines, chemicals, consumables, antibodies etc.)
  • Monitoring lab inventory
  • Ordering lab supplies
  • Assisting with fish room as needed
  • Maintaining lab personnel records (safety training, CITI training, lab expectation and SOP records etc.)
  • Assisting with animal protocol
  • Training lab personnel and managing /overseeing basic lab chores are completed
  • Preparing lab stock solutions
Qualifications

Bachelors degree (or higher) in biotechnology or biology and/or experience in molecular biology techniques preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

Employee must be self motivated with excellent organizational skills. Must be able to work independently as well as with others and be able to train lab personnel including undergraduate students.

Responsibilities

Molecular biology techniques-cloning, PCR, Western blotting, RT
  • PCR, DNA and RNA isolation, mRNA preparation
Managerial tasks-Maintaining lab inventory database (plasmids, cell lines, chemicals, consumables, antibodies etc.), maintaining lab personnel records (safety training, CITI training, lab expectation and SOP records etc.), assisting with creating and updating animal protocol, keeping inventory and ordering lab supplies, keeping lab EHSS compliant.

Cell culture/Zebrafish husbandry-maintaining cell lines, transfecting cells, creating cell lines, fish room maintenance, feeding fish.

Training lab personnel-training in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, lab database upkeep.

Other duties as assigned
