We seek an artist educator and leader who will join the Performing Arts Department faculty and technical staff and will also serve as the department chair.

Candidates must be effective teachers and be committed to excellence in developing strong dance and dance science curricula that enable each dancer’s passion, creativity, and intellect to develop as performing artists and as individuals. Teaching responsibilities also include courses in dance science, choreography, movement theory, dance history, and pedagogy. Additional expertise in somatic practices, dance conditioning, and injury prevention are essential in addressing dancers’ holistic wellness and optimal performance.

This position requires producing at least one annual dance concert in collaboration with multiple choreographers as well as senior capstone showcases. Other responsibilities other than those of a department chair include undergraduate student advising and mentorship, outreach and recruitment, as well as department, college, and university service. Ongoing professional creative activity and/or scholarship are expected. This candidate will be responsible for 12 teaching hours (two courses each semester) per academic year.
