Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) is currently the fourth
largest of North Carolina's Community College System's 58
institutions. On our six campuses and through our online offerings,
we annually serve approximately 27,500 students, 60% of whom are

Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. The full-time Criminal Justice (Occupational Extension) faculty member participates in the planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the program curriculum. Faculty will also be required to teach in one or more of our public safety areas depending on qualifications.

Education Required
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university
- A valid North Carolina Driver's License or the ability to attain one upon hire.
- Current General Instructor (GI) certification by NC Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division
- Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
- One or more specialty instructor certifications for law enforcement (i.e., Firearms, Speed Measurement Instrument (SMI) Instructor, Subject Control/Arrest Techniques (SCAT), etc.) by NC Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division.
- Five years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, homeland security, etc.)
- Three years of post-secondary teaching and/or industry training experience in Criminal Justice using any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminar.
- Three years of law enforcement training/teaching experience based on regulatory training standards.
- Administrative and/or supervisory experience.
- Greater than five years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, homeland security, etc.)
- Greater than three years of post-secondary teaching and/or industry training experience in Criminal Justice using any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminar.
- Greater than three years of law enforcement training/teaching experience based on regulatory training standards.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
- Experience as a Qualified Assistant (QA) through the NC Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division.
- Community college teaching or training experience preferred.
