The Department of Sport and Entertainment Management at the
University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) invites applications
for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant
Professor rank. This is a 9-month position with primary teaching
and research interests in Sport and Entertainment Finance or Sport
and Entertainment Marketing; secondary teaching or research
interests in one or more of the following: college athletics,
esports, labor, economics, sponsorship, ticket sales, venue
management, sport or entertainment law, and ethics. The Department
consists of over 20 full time faculty, many of whom are NASSM/SMA
Research Fellows, editors or review board members of top tier
academic journals, and executive officers of leading
discipline-focused associations. The Department offers a BS degree
in Sport and Entertainment Management, an MS in Sport and
Entertainment Management, a Ph.D. in Sport and Entertainment
Management, and is consistently ranked by Sport Business
International as a world leader in the delivery of Sport Management
programs. Further, the department is housed in the College of
Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management, which offers a wide
range of tertiary academic programs and research, affording
interdisciplinary opportunities for students and faculty. There are
two research centers in the department: the College Sport Research
Institute (CSRI) and the Center for the Advancement of Sport and
Entertainment (CASE). Annually, the department hosts the Sport,
Entertainment, and Venues Tomorrow conference (SEVT) and the
College Research Sport Institute Conference (CSRI). With deep ties
to the sport and entertainment industry and several industry
leaders in faculty positions, the department regularly features
executive lectures and industry panels, hosts guest speakers and
high-profile visitors, and conducts a wide range of consulting

Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Sport Management, Entertainment Management, or a related discipline by the start date of employment (ABDs considered); primary teaching and research interests in Sport and Entertainment Finance or Sport and Entertainment Marketing; secondary teaching or research interests in one or more of the following: college athletics, esports, labor, economics, sponsorship, ticket sales, venue management, sport or entertainment law, and ethics; an active research agenda with a demonstrated ability to generate impactful, peer-reviewed research in premier outlets; strong evidence of (or potential to attract) external funding; a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality classroom instruction.
Position Responsibilities: Develop and sustain a program of excellence in research; teach courses in Sport and Entertainment management; pursue external funding opportunities related to research agenda; provide mentoring and guidance to students in the major; collaborate with other departmental faculty in the general mission of the unit; serve on Department, College, or University committees as needed.
