Job Description

Provides daily management of housing occupancy (through developing and operating contracting processes, room assignments, contract review, room changes). Daily management and ongoing development of the on-campus housing software system (StarRez) and assignment and billing processes for the residence hall system. Supports the allocation and billing processing for 10,200+ on-campus residents and 18,500+ on- and off-campus dining plans. Manages the inventory of all written contracts supporting the assignments in the system and is responsible for complying with all relevant policies regarding Fair Housing (HUD), EEO/AA, ADA, Student Code of Conduct, and other relevant policies. Provides primary liaison with other university offices (with focus on Hokie Passport university card ID system, Admissions, Bursar and University Registrar offices) and special housing populations.

Meets extensively with students, parents, and staff members to provide adequate and appropriate housing while providing assistance/advising and support. Serves actively in an on-call administrative oversight capacity on a rotating basis and responds to colleague consultations as required. Coordinates data management needs within area and for others as needed through direct systems development and report writing as well as cooperation with IT staff members and department colleagues. Works daily with other university departments to ensure sufficient information distribution and cooperation between areas with varying needs and expectations. Reviews and submits updates to departmental web and printed materials.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree and/or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Public Administration, Finance, Business Management, Student Affairs or related field.
• Previous experience in a college setting housing program administration, residential property management, or related experience.
• Computer operations experience including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access), database systems, reporting, and financial information systems (StarRez, Banner).
• High organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to deal effectively with a diverse population, multitask duties with frequent interruptions, and to remain calm under highly stressful conditions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with StarRez (housing/dining management software)
• Experience with report development and generation using SQL/database query language.
