Job Description:

The Distribution Coordinator reports to the Central Stores Supervisor. This role is responsible for receiving, shipping, storing and delivery of materials and packages for the entire campus. This position receives packages and freight daily from UPS, FedEx, DHL and freight shipping companies. The Distribution Coordinator will maintain required records, information and data as required through the use of package tracking software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Unload and receive ground and freight deliveries. Scan packages into tracking software.
  • Prepare, organize and prioritize deliveries to end users on campus. Load delivery truck to allow for efficient distribution; including large pallets.
  • Exercise caution and follow proper techniques when lifting or moving packages. Use appropriate dollies, hand trucks or other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for the safe, efficient and timely delivery of packages and freight. Communication and scheduling with end users on campus is required on a daily basis.
  • Perform vehicle pre- and post-trip inspections; report any defects and maintain a clean and neat vehicle. Drive College vehicles observing all traffic safety and other regulations.
  • Complete deliveries with proof of delivery documentation using package tracking software. Items are delivered and/or picked up from end users within 24 hours per pre-established standard practiced procedures.
  • Complete local pickups and deliveries. Items are picked up and/or delivered to/from local off campus suppliers per the instructions of the supervisor using established schedules.
  • Upon completion of daily delivery rounds, unload vehicle(s) and secure any remaining undelivered items. Maintain warehouse and dock organization, as well as workstation area, to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist other Central Stores staff in their functions. Work from written/oral instructions by the supervisor to assist in shipping, receiving, issuance of material and record keeping as required and in adherence with all department procedures.
  • Complete Emergency Order/Requests. Ensure that emergency orders and/or requests are prioritized and handled within the time schedule defined by the Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested

Requirements:
  • Physical ability to perform the position duties including daily bending, twisting and lifting and ability to frequently lift up to 75 pounds without assistance and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be detail oriented with capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, high volume environment.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and use new software applications and programs.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service with the capability to identify and resolve problems/issues in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to relate well with a variety of people. Work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to safely use hand trucks, pallet jacks, delivery vehicles and other hand equipment/tools.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
