Job Description:

Position Summary: 

This is a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management within the Department of Business & Economics with a starting date of August 2023.

Essential Functions of the Position:

Support the Department of Business & Economics which offers the following majors: Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Land & Energy Management, Management, Marketing, Public Accounting, and Sport Management.
Be a positive mentor for Marietta College students.
Foster positive relationships by interacting with industry partners to align internships and experiential learning for Marietta College Students.
Engagement in scholarship and research is expected.
Course offerings may include introductory management, production and operations management, human resource management, strategy, and a business consulting capstone course.
Maintain a 12-credit teaching load in the fall and spring semesters.
Summer teaching opportunities may be available.
Maintain an active portfolio of academic advisees; typically, almost (if not all) management majors will become student advisees of this position. Meet with students once a term for academic advising and class registration.
Service to the college including but not limited to committee service, recruiting students, department meetings, etc.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment.
Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents.

Experience & Education:

An earned doctorate in management or closely related field is required.
Previous college level teaching is strongly preferred.
ABD candidates will be considered but must have a completed terminal degree by the time of the appointment.

Physical requirements:

Primarily sedentary work in an office setting with occasional standing and walking.
Use of office equipment including computers, printers, copiers with lifting of less than 20lb occasionally to fill machines or move files.
