Job Description

The Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing seeks a Director of NextGen Communications, the most ambitious research endeavor in the university’s history. This dynamic communications advisor is responsible for the development, implementation and measurement of an integrated communications and marketing strategy for the NextGen Precision Health initiative, including the NextGen Precision Health building, a $221 million, 265,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art research facility that anchors the overall initiative. This position reports directly to the Director of Communications for the Division of Research, Innovation and Impact and also has reporting responsibilities to the Executive Director of NextGen Precision Health.

This communications expert will collaborate with researchers, communicators and campus partners to provide a multi-channel communications strategy, creative services and delivery that effectively brings awareness to target audiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Direct the development, implementation and measurement of an integrated communications and marketing strategy to achieve leadership’s priorities.
  • Provide executive counsel, advice and support to the Executive Director of NextGen Precision Health, as appropriate, and to other partners to ensure high quality communications and alignment of the brand narrative for the initiative.
  • Serve as brand champion for NextGen and the University of Missouri System universities to ensure consistency in tone and message across all marketing communications and initiatives.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and exhibit effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external resources.
  • Must be available for regular and consistent onsite work.
  • As a leader of the institution, this individual must conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state and region affirmative action plans. Other duties and responsibilities will be expected to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.

Salary

Salary Range: $74,057- 85,000

Grade: GGS 013

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
