The CTSE Manager
of Operations is an integral member of the Center for Teaching
& Scholarly Excellence and often the first point of contact for
instructors interested in educational development for teaching,
academic technology, and scholarship. Reporting to and working
closely with the CTSE Director, the Manager of Operations is
responsible for the planning, marketing, and implementation of
programs and events to advance the mission and goals of the center.
This position uses a data-drive approach to improve service and
requires good judgment, problem-solving and confidentiality. A
detailed-oriented individual with project management and
organizational skills, a positive attitude and the ability to
multi-task effectively in this fast-paced environment will thrive
in this position.

This position requires someone who
can work independently, handle important tasks, manage the CTSEs
many projects and events, and know when to consult with the
Directors rather than simply assist us.We need someone who can
manage the many tasks involved with major projects that support
University initiatives and educational development programming
including but not limited to experiential learning committee
support, creativity and innovation committee event planning,
faculty grants, and the Annual Symposium, as well as everyday
requests from faculty and staff. Our experience with the fall Canvas
pilot and reports from our Canvas Transition Liaisons suggest an
uptick in requests over the next three years, as the University
transitions to a new learning management system, a new method for
submitting grades, as well as a transition to a new student
information system.
The CTSE would benefit from an experienced individual who has the skill and experience to manage and organize the Centers many projects, events, plans, and initiatives designed to support faculty to meet the learning needs of Suffolks diverse learning community. We need someone who can triage the many support requests from faculty, staff, and departments (that will likely grow as we transition to a new LMS); who will take the initiative to use a data-driven approach to improve and assess CTSE services; who has the capacity to maintain records, design and manage events; and who continuously creates, updates, and enables communication processes that reach appropriate audiences.
The CTSE Manager of Operations will support the Director and Associate Directors affording them the time to perform to an expected level of performance on the many projects associated with their positions. The Manager of Operations position will be involved in managing important day-to-day tasks, allowing CTSE leadership more time for planning, executing and assessing programming that meets the varied needs of faculty, staff and departments; more time to develop innovative strategies to support University initiatives, consult with our constituents, grow and enhance partnerships with University stakeholders; as well as more time to grow as professionals in our fields.
We look forward to welcoming a new member to our team who has complementary expertise and who can help us meet the Centers mission of providing educators with the tools they need to help our students achieve their learning goals.A salaried position and updated title would allow us more flexibility in supporting faculty when and where they need the assistance, keep someone in the position for more than one year, and rely on their acquired institutional knowledge to effectively perform and meet the needs of their colleagues. It is our intention to stay within the boundaries of our budget by moving funds allotted to the Technical Support position to the Manager of Operations position to cover the increase in salary needed to recruit someone with the qualifications specified in the job description.
