Position Description Summary/Purpose :

Full-time faculty members at Goodwin University are responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in their particular disciplines. They teach 15 credits hours per semester; 3 semesters per year. Faculty advise students; serve on college committees; develop and maintain curriculum; stay current in their disciplines; stay current with pedagogy and teaching methodology; participate in on and off-campus staff development activities; fulfill administrative responsibilities relevant to their positions; participate in university, professional, and community service; and engage in scholarly work related to teaching and learning.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Use the approved course syllabus format when creating course syllabi
  • Teach all classes according to an approved course syllabus
  • Ensure that each course contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
  • Ensure that assigned classes are held as scheduled and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Assess student academic achievement and demonstrate modification of teaching techniques in accordance with assessment feedback and universal design of courses
  • Submit reports in an accurate and timely manner including attendance, grades, and other related documentation
  • Attend content area meetings and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of content area goals and curriculum review based on student learning outcomes
  • Initiate discussions and make recommendations to the Director of Mathematics concerning the improvement of teaching, curriculum, and processes related to improving student outcomes
  • Attend professional development activities to remain informed of current trends and innovative approaches to instruction
  • Serve on and provide information to university committees as needed and requested
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions :
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Mathematics and the Dean
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

  • Ability to analyze, synthesize and interpret student learning outcome data to improve teaching and learning
Minimum Required Qualifications :

Education, Training and Experience :
  • Minimum Master’s Degree in mathematics
  • Minimum two years of experience teaching statistics, calculus, and mathematics to undergraduates
  • Demonstrated skill in teaching in a traditional college classroom and in an on-line environment
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in teaching statistics, calculus, and mathematics to undergraduates
  • Demonstrated ability to use web-based applications and learning management software
  • Demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching and a commitment to high academic and professional standards
Special Requirements :
  • Availability to teach on ground classes in the day and the evening
