The Center for Emerging Markets (CEM) conducts and disseminates best practices on how firms can leverage high -growth emerging markets for global competitive advantage. It is a leading research hub on issues facing private and public organizations in emerging economies. The Center for Emerging Markets 's 60+ Faculty Fellows work within several schools at Northeastern. The CEM organizes seminars, international research conferences, hosts visiting scholars from around the world, features distinguished professors and practitioners in the Nardone Family seminar series, runs lecture series on India and China, organizes symposia for the business community, runs competitions to support student immersion in emerging markets, among other things.

The CEM Program Manager provides direct operational support to the Director of the Center for Emerging Markets. They are responsible for managing the Director's administrative needs and for developing effective systems to do so. This individual manages the logistics for board meetings and other meetings that support the mission of the CEM. The CEM Program Manager is responsible for planning and delivering a range of activities, from minor events such as breakfast meetings to major events, such as conferences and annual events for over 100 people. This individual manages the Center of Emerging Markets website content, social media platforms, and digital publications. The CEM Program Manager will play a key role in case writing, strategic planning, grant proposals, and research; and work on special projects, as assigned.

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Communications, Program Development, International Business, or related fields
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in program management, event management, social media management, program operations, and/or administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with marketing, communications, writing, editing, and research
  • Experience with web navigation and social media platforms
  • Knowledge of or understanding of the economic and political context of emerging economies and the challenges of economic development internationally
  • Solid implementation skills with attention to detail
  • High level of skill in working collaboratively with individuals and groups
  • Superior communication, planning, and customer (internal and external) service skills

  • Proficiency in computer/technology and database maintenance
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experienced in living, working or studying aboard
  • Background in international economic development, business, and emerging markets (such as India or China)


Manage the Director of Center of Emerging Markets administrative needs, including all aspects of the CEM's operations.

Manage and help facilitate board meetings.

Assist with research, case writing, strategic planning, and grant proposals.

Support student services, including assisting student organizations and student volunteers.

Work closely with the marketing team to develop content that builds and endorses the CEM brand.

Create and update website content for use across multiple social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, and GSPA student blog sites.

Coordinate media and communications efforts with DMSB Communications.

Compile and maintain the CEM newsletter current on the CBA website on an ongoing basis and supervise its production on paper on a quarterly basis.

In collaboration with the Director of CEM organize and execute events, lectures, workshops, research conferences, and outreach events for the business community including Nardone Family seminars.

Prepare, manage, and monitor events budgets.

Orchestrate marketing campaigns and promote events online and on campus.

Work with the development team to assist with fundraising efforts.

Implement the Vivek & Vandana Sharma India initiative, including biannual India Lectures, India @75 summit, student/faculty exchanges, and CEM's China-related projects, such as China Lecture, China Insight Series, etc.

Coordinate with the CEM's faculty associates on research projects, mini-grant awards, research seminars/conferences/colloquia, etc |. Help manage partnerships with other units in DMSB, Northeastern U, and external organizations, such as USISPF, TIE-Boston, WorldBoston, AIM, MIT, embassies and consulates, etc.
