The Director of Annual Giving and Student Philanthropy (DAGSP) is responsible for the overall management of a newly crafted annual giving program and associated activities at Thomas College.  This individual will be part of the Advancement office’s senior strategic team, will create and manage a comprehensive annual giving plan, manage a portfolio of 25 prospects, mentor and support an individual in a new position, and work closely with the VP of Advancement and the President of the College to promote the acquisition of unrestricted annual gifts.

The Director will hire and supervise a new full-time Assistant Director of Annual Giving and Student Philanthropy.  This person will be primarily responsible for managing Giving Tuesday, the Day of Giving, supervising student workers, and serving as the main liaison with the student philanthropy committee.  The goal is to educate the students on the impact of philanthropy and to encourage giving while in college in order to nurture them to become informed and loyal alumni donors.

 

The Director will be part of a newly formed senior team, led by an experienced fundraiser who is relatively new to Thomas.  The President is a critical part of this team, serving as the “Chief Advancement Officer” stewarding critical relationships with major donors.

 

The DAGSP will be responsible for integrating fundraising best-practices into all aspects of the annual giving and student philanthropy programs.  S/he will create strategies, manage data, develop metrics, and focus efforts on advancing the College’s need to increase unrestricted gifts.  S/he will be instrumental in assisting the Vice President for Advancement and the President regarding unrestricted strategies for the next phase of the comprehensive campaign. 

 

This position requires 40% direct supervision; 20% general supervision; and 40% independent judgement.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Must be experienced and comfortable asking for gifts on behalf of the College. Must have the ability to think strategically and design effective annual fundraising model utilizing a metrics driven approach. Must be attentive, resourceful, and flexible. Must have strong interpersonal and relational skills. Must be able to analyze data in order to assess annual giving solicitation strategies and segmentation. Must be skilled with electronic communication and electronic donor tracking systems; skilled in managing deadlines and multiple projects.  Must be a self-starter, deadline and data driven, and able to adapt and manage multiple and changing priorities;

 

Four-year college degree required. Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on annual giving. Must have experience working as a manager with high expectations and utilizing metrics to evaluate performance. Must have experience with Mailchimp, GiveCampus or other similar online giving platforms a plus. Must be Proficient with Microsoft Office and database management.  Prior experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT a plus.
