  • The Student Services Team Leader is responsible for the supervision of the Student Services Associate team, working with the Assistant Registrar of Enrollment and Student Services to plan and distribute work and for scheduling daily and/or weekly tasks.
  • The Student Services Team Leader will evaluate job tasks for priority and make sure that those are addressed in a timely manner as well as assist Student Services Associates with complex questions regarding their daily functions. High level student records responsibilities include, management of continuous registration processes, mange/resolve special population registrations (athletes, international students).
  • Provide support to school/college/department staff with the use of OnBase student records tool. Manage the Performance Partnership process to develop metrics to measure staff performance.
  • The Student Services Team Leader will assist in facilitating, troubleshooting, and resolving all in-person, phone and email inquiries from students, faculty and staff.
  • This position will participate in hiring and training of new staff (Student Services Associates, temporary employees, work study students) and in working groups within the Registrar’s Office or across campus as applicable.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree and/or five years of office experience in a similar position, preferably in an academic setting.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of University policies, academic rules, academic processes and FERPA guidelines.
  • Demonstrated commitment in providing high quality services and ability to work in a collaborative team, results-oriented, customer-friendly environment.
  • Experience with student information and document imaging systems.
  • Good communication (verbal/written and listening skills).
  • Possess strong decision making, analytical abilities and detail orientation.
  • Operate printers, microfiche/film reader printer, validator, copier, scanner and fax machines.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Student Services Associate team, working with the Assistant Registrar for Enrollment and Student Services and other Assistant Registrars in planning and scheduling daily and/or weekly tasks to Student Service Associates by evaluating job tasks for priority and make sure that those are addressed in a timely manner, and assist Student Services Associates with complex questions and inquiries.
  • Perform the standard duties of a Student Service Associate.
  • Manage staff as assigned: create scheduled job rotation (front desk, transcripts, data entry, email, and phones), shifting responsibilities depending upon the needs of the office.
  • The work involves exercising independent judgment while following established policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Assistant Registrar for Enrollment and Student Services in establishing a monthly service quality control system to measure performance and monitor service quality.
  • Advise students, parents, and faculty about University policies, academic rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Transcripts’ work with third party vendor for transcript processing, investigating former student records and resolving any issues that may arise with student transcript requests; monitor and respond to registrar@syr.edu regarding transcript questions/concerns.
  • Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities to drive process improvements that positively impact the customer’s (students, faculty and staff) experience.
  • Verify student enrollment when processing professional certification requests and insurance forms.
  • Verify student degree information for the National Student Clearing house when discrepancies arise.
