Reporting to the Vice President for Mission, Values and Inclusion, the Director or Associate Director for Inclusive Education will collaborate with faculty and staff to promote an inclusive, antiracist pedagogy across disciplines of the college and student services. This position works closely with campus stakeholders (i.e., faculty development, faculty association ad hoc committees on inclusion and antiracism efforts, staff association, Human Resources) to ensure we are preparing colleagues equipped in cultivating a culture of belonging, rooted in our Dominican mission. The Director or Associate Director will organize campus-wide seminars, develop learning modules, and establish a program that facilitates staff & faculty development on the topics related to diversity, equity, antiracism & mission integration, such as Catholic social teachings. This position will also coach individual staff/faculty and develop personalized learning and growth plans, as an outcome from the bias assessment process. The Director or Associate Director will join a team of professionals working in the newly created Mission, Vision & Inclusion division within Edgewood College, and at the direction of the Vice President for MVI, will collaborate closely with the Executive Director for Student Equity and Director of Campus Ministry. The title Director or Associate Director will reflect the candidates experience, expertise, and credentials.

Responsibilities:

Faculty & Staff Development

  • Strategic creation and implementation of ongoing education program for new employees that compliments the HR onboarding process and delves deeply into topics of antiracism, diversity, equity & inclusion, creating a learning environment that supports all students, irrespective of background Design and implement educational opportunities for the college community that focuses on the individual and collective contributions to creating an antiracist and diverse campus Oversee, support, and coordinate the work of several committees, programs, offices, and individuals currently addressing issues of antiracism and diversity on campus Partner with administrative leadership, as well as Human Resources, to facilitate staff professional development, and the recruitment and retention of a diverse faculty and staff Partner with faculty development to design and implement an educational program, with measurable goals, to guide the work of faculty development on inclusive, antiracist pedagogy Partner with the division of Student Development to support diversity efforts that enhance a culture of belonging for all students Work in partnership with the COR co-directors and the program to ensure mission integration and inclusive pedagogy are present in the curriculum Partner with Staff Association Training & Professional development committee to design an educational program for staff that focuses on cultivating antiracist skillsets at the department level and managing bias in the workplace. Lead the Bias Assessment Team, reviewing reports, conducting initial gathering of information, and coordinating response from the team Develop personalized plans of action for faculty and staff that are required to further their DEI competencies as an outcome of a bias investigation Conduct Climate Surveys as needed from students and faculty/staff and create annual reports related to bias statistics on campus, demographic breakdown of faculty/staff and students
  • Partner with Human Resources to coach individuals in need of a performance improvement plan on topics related to DEI Collaborate with Human Resources to create and enhance initiatives for the ALANA and LGBTQ+ support networks

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Work with College Governance & Faculty Committees to include the ongoing commitment to equity, antiracism & mission elements in the Promotion & Tenure process, including the Post-Tenure review process. Work with Human Resources to center a commitment of equity, antiracism, and mission in the staff evaluation process Partner with Academic Affairs to review and contribute to the course evaluation process, centering antiracism, equity, and a commitment to our mission as a Catholic, Dominican institution. Work with Academic Affairs to ensure course syllabi address classroom climate, include antiracist language, and reflects our commitment to our mission as a Catholic, Dominican institution. Assist the Executive Director of Student Equity & Inclusion with student DEI initiatives, including academic programs such as Community Scholars, Bonners Leaders, Emerging Leaders, and the administrative oversight of Multicultural Student Lounge and the Queer Student Center Partner with the Coordinator for Student DEI initiatives in the planning and implementation of cultural heritage programming throughout the Fall and Spring semester Partner with the Executive Director for Student Equity & Inclusion to assist with academic retention initiatives and engagement activities for BIPOC and first-generation college students Collaborate with the Executive Director for Student Equity & Inclusion and various campus stakeholders to support initiatives that help increase enrollment, persistence, and graduation of underrepresented undergraduate and graduate students at the college Partner with faculty and staff within the Graduate School to help support prospective and current BIPOC graduate students

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • At least 5 to 7 years of progressive administrative experience leading and developing culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogy at college or university setting A master’s degree in a field related to the goals of the position, PhD or terminal degree preferred in Education, or related field Proven success in the implementation of professional development with multiple stakeholders Experience teaching in a college or university setting Experience collaborating with faculty and staff across an organization   Ability to build strong relationships and work individually/coach faculty and staff

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • An understanding and appreciation of the value of Catholic education. A support of Edgewood College’s Catholic identity and Dominican identity, including our mission, values, and commitments to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. Knowledge of and relevant experience in integrating diversity, equity & antiracist efforts into the curriculum Ability to identify and deploy best practices to enhance teaching, service & community engagement  Depth of experience in coaching individuals and leading workshops    Advocate, integrate and promote the College’s Dominican Catholic identity, mission, vision, and values Ability to utilize metrics and qualitative/quantitative data to assess progress and outcomes  Effective communication and written skills
