The Assistant Director of Young Alumni Programming is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic and comprehensive program to engage, solicit and steward young alumni (10-years out or less = Graduates of the Last Decade (“GOLD”).  The primary objective of this position is to help build a culture of engagement and giving amongst our youngest alumni in order to ensure a strong pipeline of volunteers, donors and leaders for Grinnell College in the future.     Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, with a dotted line to the Director of Alumni and Donor Relations, the Assistant Director of Young Alumni Programming is part of a team which provides support and leadership to the College’s annual giving and alumni & donor relations programs.  This position will be a key liaison between these teams, driving strategy as they work in concert to develop customized, dynamic and flexible programs that will appeal to Grinnell’s GOLD alumni and encourage their involvement with the College, their fellow alumni and current students. The position will manage a portfolio of 100+ young alumni prospects, developing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies that result in Annual and Major Giving Leadership gifts.  The ability to collaborate with campus offices that have intersections with young alumni (Center for Careers, Life, and Service, Division of Student Affairs, Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, etc.) will be essential for success in this position.     
  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively solicit gifts/donations
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Interpersonal skills especially with managing alumni volunteers
  • Event planning experience is preferred
