Notre Dame of Maryland University is seeking to hire a Director for our Women's Leadership Institute of Baltimore that will report directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement & University Communications. Through innovative and responsive programming, the Director of the Women’s Leadership Institute of Baltimore (WLIB) at Notre Dame of Maryland University will provide enriching opportunities and programming for the greater Baltimore community and beyond, while serving as an engaging resource for students, faculty, staff, alumnae and alumni of NDMU.  The mission of WLIB is founded upon recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of outstanding women, while curating workshops for leadership development, convening discussion on issues of gender equity. The Director of WLIB will research, create and actively implement programming pertinent to the advancement of women and meant to promote dialogue, and inspire action, social justice, and gender inclusivity.

Essential functions will include, but are not limited to:

  • Creates and implements a proactive strategic plan and budget for WLIB to maximize effectiveness and impact. Actively directs and promotes events and activities under the auspices of WLIB. 
  • Creates, coordinates, and monitors structure for mentorship opportunities for students. Develops in collaboration with the Office of Academic Affairs, an annual session during orientation for first-year students. 
  • Establishes proactive annual programming for the Baltimore community and beyond commensurate with the strategic goals of WLIB. Develops and implements an annual Speaker Series, including the annual President’s Forum and Women’s History Month speakers, as well as conversations with speakers on issues of work/life balance, personal growth and development and/or specific career issues related to the IMPRINT Pillars.
  • Develops and manages strategic plan and budget for WLIB and WOW to maximize effectiveness and impact.  Serves as WOW Producer to ensure that WOW partnership with the WOW Foundation is beneficial and consistent with NDMU’s obligations as articulated within the WOW contract.   
  • Supports targeted fundraising goal by working collaboratively with Institutional Advancement staff to research, develop, quality and solicit a robust prospect list of potential lead WOW funders. Actively recruits advocates and committee members to ensure community buy-in and endorsement. 
  • Works with Vice President of Institutional Advancement & University Communications to identify Festival leaders and task force members on campus and within the Baltimore community that includes leaders with influence, ability, financial capacity and interest.
  • Collaborates with NDMU colleagues throughout the institution to develop compelling and inspiring WOW schedule and makes all appropriate campus arrangements with Conference Services and other appropriate campus support systems to execute the WOW Festival. Collaborates closely with Advancement, Communications, Facilities, and Conference Service teams to develop functional plans for event management, execution, and event marketing and messaging. 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge:  BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university., Masters degree preferred. Background in women’s programming and studies preferred. Experience: Experience in budget management, database management, and use of Microsoft and Google products required.  Skills/Aptitude:  Excellent writing and speaking skills required.  An ability to organize and prioritize work effectively with other members of the team and the University community is a must.   Must have a quality service orientation and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.    Working Conditions Normal office environment.  Required to work some evenings and selected weekends.
