Position Summary

Working with the staff of the Northern Illinois Simulation and Learning Center NISLC, provides technical support, organization, and assistance with classroom management and the ongoing functions of simulation education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Scheduling and Coordination
  • Work directly with the Office of Learning and Professional Development ( OLPD ) team to schedule child protection, intact, and permanency simulations that coordinate with OLPD Pre-service and In-service classes.
  • Monitor and coordinate modifications for simulation activities based upon professional development needs of the field and OLPD training schedules.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of all actors, coordinating schedules with actor vendor, and assist with tracking actor’s hours for billing.
  • Develop orientation materials in collaboration with the OLPD and other university partners for new actors and scenarios.
  • Support scheduling and setup of “pop-up” simulation activities supported by the NISTC
Simulation Technological Support
  • Maintain the equipment and take lead in troubleshooting and resolving equipment and technical issues including but not limited to camera video and audio, live streaming, smartboards, laptops, etc.
  • Work with Simulation Facilitator and OLPD curriculum design team, and pre/in-service leadership or their designee to ensure that all electronic versions of training materials are accurate, align with the most recent version of the Foundation Training and simulation manual, and are stored in the required and appointed DCFS identified electronic storage file location.
  • Develop and maintain an electronic and a hard copy binder of all materials for Foundations trainers to ensure that trainers have all relevant content for classroom and simulations a week in advance of the next training.
  • Working with DCFS, CHHS IT, OLPD, other university partners, and IT Departments, to facilitate the implementation of the video “storage unit” so simulation trainees and supervisors will be able to review the simulations.
Data Management Support
  • Support DCFS and university trainers by managing the database of new hires and tracking their completion of all required self-directed learning assignments.
  • Support OLPD by assisting with the review of transcripts for new hires.
  • Support OLPD by assisting with registration when needed.
  • Assist the NISTC Simulation Facilitator and NISTC Director, OLPD and other university partners to develop new character profiles for new simulation trainings.
  • Ensure simulation participants are provided opportunities to provide program evaluation and feedback of simulation to the NISTC .
  • Provide regular and ongoing written reports to the CCPTA Associate Director regarding but not limited to tracking data such as: the usage of actors, number of simulation deliveries, completion rates for participants, and any relevant data related to participant evaluation feedback.
Other Requirements:
  • Support the NISTC Simulation Facilitator, NISTC Director, OLPD, and other university partners in coordinating a SACWIS Skills Component of Simulation training.
  • Contribute to the develop and implementation of a post simulation outreach form and process for participants supervisors and AA’s alerting them that new hires/transfers have passed exams, completed all necessary training and have met all criteria to be assigned investigations
  • Respond to requests from other community partners and stakeholders interested in utilizing the NISTC Simulation Center in DeKalb.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
  1. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:
    1. college course work in behavioral science, social work, sociology, psychology, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    2. work experience that provided a knowledge of human behavior by having demonstrated through public contact the ability to cope with a variety of people, (such as customer service, salesperson, or receptionist).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Knowledge of human behavior.
  2. Skill in interacting with people from varied social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  3. Ability to organize, prepare, and maintain records, reports, files, and correspondence.


Specialty Factors (Civil Service)

1. Demonstrated professional work experience in coordination and scheduling.

2. Demonstrated professional work experience in troubleshooting technical issues, such as those often found in a simulation laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications (Civil Service)

1. Requires a bachelor degree.
2. Two years experience in coordination and scheduling required.
3. Working knowledge of video and audio equipment.
4. Proven ability to work collaboratively as a team member with individuals from diverse backgrounds
5. Cultural and linguistic competence
6. Prior experience in troubleshooting and technical expertise.
7. Working knowledge of basic data base systems such as Microsoft Excel or similar.
